empty/illegal list of parameters

Hi,

I am using NCVerilog for my research purpose where I am building some module in SystemVerilog.

I have a list of parameters stored in a xxx.vh file which are a set of ifdefs and are selected at compile time through some command line configurations.

But when I try to build the system, I get following errors on each of the selected parameters:

ncvlog *E, SVNIMP: Systemverilog construct not implemented. compilation unit top scope declaration.

Also another set of errors which I am not sure are due to the previous error says:

ncvlog *E, NULLPP: empty/illegal list of parameters.

Some parameters are not common in both the errors which suggest that the latter errors are not due to the former errors.

FWIW, I am using ncverilog version: 05.83-s002. Do you think the errors are due to older version of ncverilog ? I am using my university license. And for some weird reason, I cannot find ncehelp command in the /usr/bin/ directory.

Thanks for the help,

Rashmikant

    Hi Rashmikant,

Yes, the error you are receiving is due to the software being an older version (it's over three years old, and no longer supported).  That specific version did not support parameters declared outside of modules or packages.

Try to check with the software administrators, and have them load the latest version of software (currently 8.2).

To obtain help on error messages, use the nchelp command.  As an example, to get detailed information on the NULPP error:

    nchelp ncvlog NULPP

I believe all of the errors you mentioned above will go away when compiling with the current version of the software.

    Regards,

    Bob
