$system : no more processes available

outlook

Hi

In my verilog testbench, I am calling $system system task to invoke MATLAB to generate some kind of packet. But after some 90 $system call, I noticed that $system task is not able to invoke MATLAB. It is getting some error saying that "no more processes available" which i guess is similar in C where return value of -1 when no more process are available. I tried to check the unix OS status and think that system is capable of take more request. Is there any way from ncsim prompt i can see the unix system status and memory available? any clue will be helpful.

Regards

Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep.

I don't know enough about the $system() task and how you might debug its memory use. Your best bet would be to open a service request via http://sourcelink.cadence.com/, asking the same question. This would eventually connect you to someone in R&D who would know how to help.

There are other ways to link ncsim and Matlab, with a direct link so that you don't have to use $system. Instead the tools can interact throughout the simulation. Let me know if you'd like more info on that option.
