how to auto generate html document from exist e code

I heard that specman has auto document generation function from existing e code, but I dont know how to, would anyone tell me? Or which guide explain it, thank you.

  • The feature you're referring to is called eDoc, and the command (in Specman) is "write doc". This lets you write out HTML docs for all or some of the loaded e code. Usually we use it to generate the docs for the eRM packages rather than just the loaded files, so there is a switch to control that.

    I suggest you open up the docs and take a look to see how it works.

    All the Cadence VIP ships with eDoc files that you can explore.

  • Thank for your reply. I tried to generate HTML docs for my own written eRM like code, but is fail, I do following command, I think I use wrong command, would like to tell me how to, thank you.

    %Specman> load top_e_file.e

    %Specman> write doc

     *** Error: Illegal 'write' command
        write doc

    You know the expression "give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day; teach him to fish and he'll eat forever"...

    Open the docs by running the command "sn_help.sh".

    Next type "write doc" into the search tool and hit Enter.

    Open the first entry that pops up (assuming it returns the right results like on my screen).

     

  • Hi Spark, If you still have a problem then you can do the following: 1. export SPECMAN_WEB_BROWSER= or setenv SPECMAN_WEB_BROWSER 2, open specview 3. load your e files 4. click on eRM button 5. click on edocs option and it will create edoc then you can see it in web browser (view menu) Best Regards!
