Specman Documentation Query

Hello,

Is there a smaller concise version of the Specman Verification Advisor or rather a document which explains the strategy to be followed for developing a test-bench with "E" language and Specman ? I already have a copy of the Verification Advisor but it is a bit too big. Anything simple and perhaps smaller for beginners like me ??

    Hi.

There is a utility that ships with the IES82 and INCISIV92 tools, it's called "ivb" or Incisive Verification Builder.

When you run "ivb" it opens a GUI where you can step through a wizard to build yourself a new eVC (or OVC if you're a SV fan).
It then generates the code for you so that you have a complete eVC ready to run, and exactly following the approved methodology.

What I really like about this is that it lets you start with something that runs, so you know it's good.
As you start to edit things, if it stops working, then you can work out why very easily, compared to starting with a blank sheet!

As well as ivb, there are self-paced workshops in the SOC Verification Kit (part of INCISIV92), where the instructions take you through bulding your own eVC/OVC. You might prefer to start with this, and treat the Verification Advisor docs as more of a reference to dip into when you need something specific.

One other valuable resource is your local Cadence AE, who should be very happy to come and help you get started.
Send me a private message if you need help finding your local AE, I'll need to know where you're located and who you work for.
