reset & tf_reset

Hi,

I was confused by hareware rtl signal reset and testflow method tf_reset(). According to e doc, the tf_reset is used for "Soft reset /digital reset", so I think normally in this method developer should assign values to those input signals for reset process. The question is: how does this tf_reset() know it is time for reset and it is time to exit reset? Or maybe I misunderstood the function of tf_reset(), then how to deal with signals in reset process? thanks.
