Does irun 12.20 support multi-core simulation and how to do so .

I had ever use following "-processor" options. It seems that it does not work well.

irun -processor 4

irun -processor 4 -profthread
The version is :
irun: 12.20-s009: (c) Copyright 1995-2013 Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

-processor is used to bind the process to a given set of CPUs, so by saying -processor 4 you've simply asked the OS to always run irun on processor number 4. Not really what you wanted!

There are various multi-core capabilities in Incisive, although in 12.20 it's a subset of what we offer in the current version 14.10; your local AE can help you choose the right settings for your design.

Please note that 12.20 went of of support recently so you should consider moving up to a newer version such as 13.20 or 14.10.

    Hi StephenH ,

Could you just tell me the option or which help doc (pdf) to find the help info.

    Thank you.

Jenny, the help tool is started from the Linux prompt using the command "cdnshelp". Once you've run it, type "multi-core" into the search box; the very first result it gives is describing multi-core simulation.

In cdnshelp to search multi-core. I found the options : "-mccodegen -mcmaxcores 4"

I do a same test with / without the options : "-mccodegen -mcmaxcores 4" , the simulation time are:

     without "-mccodegen -mcmaxcores 4" :      ncsim: CPU Usage - 9.2s system + 252.1s user = 261.2s total (329.4s, 79.3% cpu)

     with    "-mccodegen -mcmaxcores 4" :         ncsim: CPU Usage - 3.8s system + 203.3s user = 207.0s total (278.6s, 74.3% cpu)

(And I found only 2 ncsim in the top command display)

Question 1:  Is my options - "-mccodegen -mcmaxcores 4" used right ?

Question 2: Why the performance improved is so little and only 2 cpu cores are used  ?

    Thanks .
