simvision: how to add all signals in design to waves

Hello,  What are the fewest commands to add all signals in design to waveform viewer?  Thanks, SysTom

    Hi Thomas,

That is an interesting challenge. ;-)

Please try the following SimVision commands (assuming you have the Design Browser and Waveform windows opened):

    browser select deep <top_scope_name>
    waveform add -selected

Please be careful about adding too many signals into the waveform. That can introduce performance issues.

    Good luck...

    Hi Doug,

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, that seems to work. I also found I could do this:

database -open waves -into waves.shm -statement -default
    scope -set {top}
probe -create -all -depth all -waveform

Both methods added a much more significant simulation burden than I had anticipated - even with my relatively small design/TB.

    Thanks again,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Yes, enabling statement trace recording (database -statement) will definitely significantly degrade simulation performance. I would avoid doing that if at all possible.

I would also suggest probing depth to "to_cells" level instead of "all", unless you really need to probe within cells.

    Thanks.

    Hi Doug,

Thanks for the tip: I tried to_cells. In my case it was quicker to load the waves but performance was still degraded somewhat (less than 'all'). I'll look into a way to cherry-pick was I need a bit better.

    ~Tom
