vManager tool gives this error-"Error:Project Environment Selection is required by server, and must be set on this mode"

Hi all..

I need to generate the regression report (of selected sessions) in the form of csv file in cadence vManager tool using batch mode commands. The command I used is -

"vmanager -exec  cmnd", where cmnd is a file containing the command ' csv_export -sessions -view All_Sessions -filter "start_time:> 6/17/19 10:49 PM" -out regr.csv '

But I have been getting the following error-

Error:Project Environment Selection is required by server, and must be set on this mode

Can anyone let me how to resolve this?

Try "setenv VMGR_PROJECT foo", replacing "foo" with the project name that you want to connect to on the server.

I'm surprised there isn't a command line option for this. And there's nothing in the documentation.

Do you know how to specify the password? Using that environment variable, I now get this error:

Error: Login details are required by server. For execution mode, the corresponding environment variables must be set

And doesn't tell you what environment variables :( But I don't want to set the password via an env var anyway.

    Many thanks.

My mistake, I did find that env var in the documentation, but of course you need to know it exists! I found it in:

19.05 / Installation / Cadence vManager Installation and Configuration Guide / Appendix E: Environment Variables

There you'll see that you can use VMGR_PASSWORD to set the password, however, I would consider that insecure. See this article for different command line invocations of vmanager to get it to prompt you for a password. I found it didn't prompt me because I had already save my credentials from an earlier run of vmanager. I think the token based method is the way to go for true batch mode.
