Memory Viewer formatting

HardDiskJockey
HardDiskJockey over 2 years ago

I have a memory in my design that has parity bits inserted after each byte in a 32-bit word (each word is 36-bits w/ parity). How do I display this memory in the simvision memory viewer such that the parity bits are removed from each word?

Regards,

Steve Edwards

    Hello,

To display a memory in SimVision with the parity bits removed from each word, you can use the "Memory Data Format" settings. Here's a step-by-step guide:

    • Open your design in SimVision and launch the Memory Viewer.
    • In the Memory Viewer window, locate the "Memory Data Format" settings. It is usually found in the toolbar or in the right-click context menu.
    • Click on the "Memory Data Format" settings, and a dialog box should appear.
    • In the dialog box, locate the option for "Display Format" or a similar setting that allows you to modify how the memory data is displayed.
    • In the "Display Format" settings, you can specify the data width and formatting options. Since you have parity bits inserted after each byte in a 32-bit word, you'll want to remove those parity bits.
    • Set the "Data Width" to 32 bits to match your word size.
    • Look for an option that allows you to specify the bit range or mask for each displayed word. In this case, you'll want to exclude the parity bits from each word. For example, if the parity bits are the last 4 bits of each 36-bit word, you can set the mask to display only the first 32 bits of each word.
    • Once you have configured the settings to remove the parity bits from each word, click "OK" or a similar button to apply the changes.

After following these steps, the Memory Viewer in SimVision should display the memory with the parity bits removed from each word, showing only the relevant 32 bits of data.
