Want to run Vmanager in batch mode

How to check the status of a regression test after launching it in batch mode

We used the following cmds to trigger a regression test:

export VMGR_PROJECT=xxxxxx
vmanager -batch -init run.tcl

The run.tcl script contains:

launch /path/to/vsif/file/vmgr_sanity_regr.vsif

This successfully launches the test — I can see it running in the vManager GUI. However, I now want to fetch the current status of the test (e.g., whether it’s still running or completed) from the command line. I am also looking for the appropriate commands or arguments to extract a report summarizing the test run results. Kindly help me on this.

The vManager Tcl prompt doesn't suit more advanced use such as polling the status of individual test runs, although the variable $last_launched_session can be used to query the overall status of the session. You can also use the -wait option to the launch command so that the Tcl prompt waits till the session has finished.

If your intention is purely to wait till the end of the session and generate a report, you might consider using the post-session automation instead, refer to  What is automation and how can I debug automation issues in vManager?

Another option is described in this article: How to trigger emails to testcase/group owners regarding failing testcases after the completion of regression in vManager
