    Dear Shunty,

Welcome to both CDN Users, and the Cadence tools! Let me provide some quick answers to your questions, and suggest follow-up actions for you and others to pursue.

1.Can anyone please explain to me what vmanager and vplan are? And how I can use them?

vManager, now called Enterprise Manager, is a product for automating functional verification from creating a verification plan to reaching verification closure. The vPlan is a file format which is read by Enterprise Manager, and contains the functional verification intent of a logic design project. This document is relatively open format, and can contain all manner of text to describe the project, plus the formatted information needed to specify the metrics of verification. Enterprise Manager helps improve project predictability by motivating creation of a higher quality verification plan, monitoring detailed progress, measures against metrics of verification completion, and increases productivity of individuals and the overall team by automating the common, high value tasks of verification.

2.How CDV can be implemented in cadence tools?

Cadence now makes available, free of charge, an IP Verification Kit, which contains several self-guided workshops. Every workshop uses Enterprise Manager, though there is at least one workshop explicitly on the application of Coverage Driven Verification (CDV). Enterprise Manager provides visibility and access to more metrics than just Coverage, so the workshop and other materials refer to the methodology as Metric Driven Verification, or MDV.

Thank you again for your inquiry, and best wishes applying Cadence technology to your project.

    Regards,

    Steve Brown
