I posted this thread a couple months back about a great new book on AOP - the fist chapter gives great overview of advantages as compared to OOP. I cut & pasted my original post here:

I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware of a new book that was recently published from David Robinson of Verilab -

Aspect-Oriented Programming with the e Verification Language: A Pragmatic Guide for Testbench Developers

You can purchase it online at places like Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Aspect-Oriented-Programming-Verification-Language-Developers/dp/0123742102

I reviewed the book before it was published and highly recommend it. David does a great job of explaining the benefits of Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) over traditional Object-Oriented Programming, and how to apply AOP in e to make your verification job easier. The book is great for engineers who have just started using e as well as advanced users. The first chapter alone should be read by anyone who is considering which verification language to adopt since it does a great job of showing how AOP in e makes it a lot easier to accomplish tasks that are much more difficult in languages that don’t have full AOP support. I worked at Verisity for 7 years and explained this with varying degrees of success to many engineers, but David’s book provides the best, straight-forward explanation I have seen. He also provides many great examples of how to apply AOP to solving various problems based on his experience as a verification engineer building e testbenches.

There is also an article that David wrote on cdnusers.org which is based on the first chapter of the book:

    Regards,
    Mike

I've read the demo chapter and I agree. A must for all OOP people out there who want to finally understand what the fuss is all about :-)
