Problem in Running UltrasimVerilog

Hi,

I have a circuit with all custom deisgned module, and a verilog functional module for generting the input stimulus for my custom designed block. When I try to simulate using UltrasimVerilog as my simulator [Ultrasim/Spectre when I run AMS by setting ADE(L) --> Setup --> Simulator/Directory/Host; Simulator to UltrasimVerilog]  there is a error message,

" Error found by UltraSim.

Error(USIM-12701): The UltraSim-Verimix(mixed mode) simulator option is not compatible with 64-bit platforms. The UltraSim will exit the current session.Either run the simulation on a 32-bit platform or turn off the UltraSim-Verimix Option before running the simulation again"

I did go to ADE(L) --> Setup --> Environment, unchecked run with 64bit binaries. But still getting the same error.

I am newbie to mixed signal simulations, I have used AMS as my simualtor before, but this is the first time I am trying with UltrasimVerilog.

Can anyone enlighten me on the error and what to do?

And also I wish to know how to choose between Ultrasim/Spectre when I run AMS by setting ADE(L) --> Setup --> Simulator/Directory/Host; Simulator to AMS

Thanks!

    Aarthy,

I merged your two identical questions in different forums because the forum guidelines for both forums tell you not to post the same thing in multiple forums.

Anyway, which version of MMSIM and INCISIV or IUS streams are you using? Is there a good reason why you're not using ams as the simulator (With the solver as either spectre or Ultrasim)?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for merging them! I regret posting the question in different forums, I spend a lot of time looking for delete/move button.

My MMSIM is Version 11.1, INCISIV is also 11.1.

I am limited with the licence availability for running AMS simulator with Spectre.

I don't know how to choose between Ultrasim/Spectre as solver.  I have included this question in my previous post also.

" And also I wish to know how to choose between Ultrasim/Spectre when I run AMS by setting ADE(L) --> Setup --> Simulator/Directory/Host; Simulator to AMS"

    Thanks!

    Aarthy

I did find how to change the solver when using AMS, but the options under AMS plugin in Hierarchy editor is always inactive except for initialize, I wasn't able to further proceed due to licence limitation.  Is there any work around?

Your issue with UltrasimVerilog is probably that you have the UNIX environment variable $CDS_AUTO_64BIT set to "ALL" - which means that it is forcing ultrasim to run in 64 bit mode. If you instead use:

    setenv CDS_AUTO_64BIT exclude:ultrasim

Then ultrasim would run in 32 bit mode, but everything else would run in 64 bit mode - and that should work fine.

With "ams" as the simulator in ADE, you'd use Simulation->Solver to change between Spectre and Ultrasim. You wouldn't use the Hierarchy Editor Plugin - that is an alternative to running in ADE.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your reply. It works now.

But even with Ultrasim as solver it take longer time for my simulation to complete.

     Thanks!
