Redesigning interconnections

Hello friends from Cadence,

I have a extracted view of a layout with many interconnections. I used the extracted view for simulate some parameters in Virtuoso.

Now, I want to change the length of some interconnections and simulate the new layout. But, I don't want to change this manually in the layout tool. What options I can alter the length of nets?

I saw that QRC can exports in some kind of formats, like SPEF, SPICE, SPECTRE and DSPF. Maybe, for change the lengths of interconnections,  it is more practical just alter the numbers in the SPEF  file generated. So, how can I use SPEF format to simulate using a  config view?

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Rafael

    Hi Rafael,

ADE XL allows you to parameterize (using the Variables and Parameters assistant) the parasitics in the extracted view (not the lengths, this would be the R's and C's) without needing re-extraction.

Alternatively you could simulate with the DSPF (using the facility in ADE to include a DSPF file). SPEF is more complicated, because it's not very human readable/editable, but more importantly the only way to use it with simulation is to stitch the parastics onto the design, which can be challenging. DSPF has the benefit of including both the parasitics and the devices, so you don't need to stitch anything.

I would suggest you contact customer support to work through the details of a flow that would work for you.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.
