CDB to OA PDK Translation Issues

Hello,

I am trying to translate a PDK from Cadence Front to Back Design Environment Virtuoso/Spectre IC5141 to IC614.85 using CDB to OA translate.

My apologies if I have reported the version numbers incorrectly.

I run into issues with this and when I try to create a layout of a transistor cell from a schematic I get the following errors:

(I have hidden the directory name that CIW reports)

In CIW Window

*WARNING* (DB-270001): Pcell evaluation for <hidden directory> has the following error(s):
*WARNING* (DB-270002): ("dbReplaceProp" 0 t nil ("*Error* dbReplaceProp: Invalid time" nil))
*WARNING* (DB-270003): Error kept in "errorDesc" property of the label "pcellEvalFailed" on layer/purpose "marker/error" in the submaster

In Layout Window:

pcell Eval Failed

I am wondering what is wrong and whether I can do anything about it.

Thank you.

Translating a PDK using the CDB to OA translator can sometimes be tricky - although for the most part it works.

You are using a rather old destination version (it sounds as if you might be using the base IC614 version from 2009 - so 9 years ago).

I would suggest contacting customer support so that we can look at the logs in more detail to diagnose the problem. Your description doesn't really provide enough information to go on. Although I'd first start off by trying with a more recent version than one from 9 years ago... we've had 4 major releases since then.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hello Mr. Beckett,

    Thank you for your response.

When you say "start off with a more recent version", are you talking about the version I am translating to (ie. IC614) or the earlier version (IC5141).

Is the translator improved with a more up to date version ?

    Thank you again.

I was talking about a more recent version that you're translating to. I thought I was fairly clear about this:

There will of course have been fixes in the translator in the meantime. I don't know whether this will be fixed, but it's an important first step in case that helps. It might be a setup issue, it might be a specific problem with the data, or it might be a bug - very hard to know from the detail you provided.

    Regards,

    Andrew
