I Want to ask about : resistance with configurable process variability?

I read a paper related to memristor , and they said : Memristors are modeled with a resistance of configurable process variability., so what does it mean by a resistance with configurable process variability? is there a specific type of resistance to be used?

    It might mean that the resistance varies in any realistic technology - such as it does with conventional resistors, inductors and so on - the sheet resistance is dependent on process variability. Or it might mean something else! It would probably help if you posted a reference to the paper so others can look up the statement to see whether the context gives a clue as to what might be meant by this.
