Create verilog netlist without simulator license

I need to generate a Verilog netlist from a Virtuoso Schematic. The netlist is for sharing outside the Cadence environment. I thought there was a way to generate such a netlist without having an NCVerilog or Xcelium license (I don't need the simulators), but everything I try seems to require additional licensing beyond my Schematic L/ADE Explorer licenses, I keep getting flagged for not having feature 21400.

Basically I have a hierarchical design with leaf cells that have Verilog views and which resolve to Verilog primitives (I am using cells from the "samples" library). I need to generate a hierarchical netlist with Verilog modules containing primitives.

I have not had to do this for years, maybe there is no longer a way to just generate a Verilog netlist from Virtuoso Schematic? I am certain I was able to do so in the past.

This document shows an old-school way to do it:

If you have a newer version, you can use the IP Export capability:

Verilog out will not work, that's where I get flagged for not having feature 21400. I swore there was a time when all you needed was Schematic and ADE to run Verilog out.

I'll see if I can get the second option to work, but I got some errors regarding not having an ams license (I just have Spectre) when trying to netlist from the CIW.

No, the Verilog Interface has always required product/license 21400 (Virtuoso Schematic Editor Verilog Interface) since the dawn of time. It never required (and still doesn't require) a simulator license.

Tim's second suggestion is producing Verilog-AMS rather than Verilog (which may be fine, depending on how you're consuming it) - that would require an ADE license.

There's also Tools→System Verilog→Netlister, but this also requires 21400 (plus VSE XL or product 70000). That's a dedicated System Verilog netlister (as the name suggests).

Thanks. The problem with moving from a hundreds or thousands of seats company to a cash-poor one or two seat startup is that there are a lot of little bits and pieces that one takes for granted but are separate licenses. I also may be confusing Verilog Out with Verilog In in my memory.

Trying to play around with the Verilog-AMS solution, but I can’t change simulator in ADE to AMS without an AMS license (just have vanilla Spectre). Is that going to block me from going that direction?

Meanwhile I have asked about a 21400 key, hopefully that’s a lot cheaper than an XCelium license.

You don't need an AMS license to switch the simulator to "ams" in ADE. You do, however, need an XCELIUM installation (which doesn't require a license - you need it installed and in the path). I'm not sure that's going to be particularly helpful if you want a pure digital Verilog netlist though, as I said before. There are a number of things in the netlist which are there specifically tailored for the Cadence AMS Simulator, and it's not designed to produce a standalone netlist (other than the IP export approach that was mentioned earlier, but that too is intended for use with running XCELIUM simulations from the command-line).
