[Verilog-AMS][Xcelium version]

dear tutor & peers,

problem:

• netlisting failed using simulator=ams

description:

• picture 1shows that the virtuoso does not support an old version of Xcelium

• picture 2 shows that the Xcelium version is exactly the one Virtuoso requires, however

questions:

• may I know how to verify which version of Xcelium is exactly the one Virtuoso is referring to (like, any command or log or whatnot) ?

• and how to manually specify the Xcelium version for each simulation ?

look forward to discussing & working out a solution together.

A simple way to check is to bring up a terminal from Virtuoso. You can type this in CIW:

    > system("xterm &")

Now, you run 'xrun -version' in this terminal - do you still see 21.03-s009?

    hi Saloni,

    thanks for your tips.

this approach works and shows again 21.03-s009.

also the tricky point is simulator=ams still doesn't work ......

What is your IC version? virtuoso -W will return the exact release.

The article below talks about Virtuoso and compatible Xcelium versions:

    https://support.cadence.com/apex/ArticleAttachmentPortal?id=a1O3w00000AHInsEAH&pageName=ArticleContent

You can use Xcelium 21.03-s010 or later /  Xcelium 21.09-s003 or later versions with ICADVM20.1 and IC6.1.8 ISR21 or later versions

    hi Saloni,

thanks for the link and I understood we're supposed to switch back to Xcelium 20.09 for a Virtuoso older than

ISR20. and please see below, can this sub-version be interpreted as "IC6.1.8 ISR21"?

if so, it seems pretty interesting as the current Virtuoso version is asking for Xcelium 20.09 or Xcelium 21.03-s009......

I just did a quick test, and it turns out that the article has the right recommended versions. You need atleast Xcelium 21.03-s010 with IC618 ISR21 (that you are using). The error message in Virtuoso was fixed in IC618 ISR22.

*ERROR* (AMS-2188): The current version of Virtuoso does not support the AMS Unified Netlister flow with Xcelium version 21.03-s001 through s009. Either use Xcelium 20.09, or Xcelium 21.03-s010 or newer versions or contact Cadence Customer Support for assistance.

If you have the option of upgrading, it's better to move to Xcelium 23.xx or 24.xx streams, as 21.03 is quite old now.
