[explicit parameter sweeping][netlisting/simulation always pending]

dear peer & tutors,

please see attached the problem in the next message.

simulations with "parameter sweeping" get stuck for good in netlisting phase.

instead, single-point simulation without "parameter sweeping" works well.

P.S. design variable sweeping in "DC" tab also works.

I suppose this new error indicates something has changed in the environment.

did you see a similar case before? thanks in advance.

in addition, I notice that the name of this highlighted file seems related to the problem.
may I know the purpose or exact function of this "swift netlist service"?

This is part of the "LSCS" infrastructure - the netlisting and simulation are separated into different processes, which allows better management of the resources (netlisting requires a background virtuoso, whereas simulation doesn't need a virtuoso sitting around consuming memory whilst the simulation runs). With single jobs, there's "single job optimisation" turned on in most cases and so the netlisting is done in the foreground - when you have multiple points, it always starts a background process to run netlisting.

You didn't mention which IC sub-version you're using - this will be in the Help→About menu.

Does it work if you change to "ICRP" on the Job Policy form?

Can you run (from the command line) "virtuoso -nograph" ?

    Regards,

    Andrew

hi Andrew and glad to have your insights.

[1] as shown in the attached, can this sub-version be interpreted as "IC6.1.8 ISR21"?
[2] it seems like "ICRP" couldn't fix this problem.
[3] I could learn & try, though not familiar with the command line.
I understood there are a lot of resources talking about this but it would be great to have your specific recommendation for the freshman like       me to get started. many thanks!

Just as you ran "virtuoso -W" can you run "virtuoso -nograph" - I am just trying to check that it starts. If ICRP doesn't work either, it suggests that Virtuoso cannot be launched non-graphically.

    Regards,

    Andrew

[1] "virtuoso -nograph" works well as shown below.
[2] here is the latest update:
I restart virtuoso again. this time both "LSCS" & "ICRP" can work.
         the problem disappears somehow.

now I'm fine to close this ticket even without a clear understanding/solution......

I should point out that this is not a "ticket" system. This is a community forum. if you want a tracked support system, you should submit a support case (aka ticket) at http://support.cadence.com

Anyway, glad your problem is resolved!

hi Andrew, many thanks for this link, though I have no ideas how to raise a case there.
I'd ask our IT staff next week, before that let me keep posting at the forum side.
