Importing digital data as an input source

Hi everyone

Is it possible to set an extracted digital simulation result (digital vectors) as an input source to another simulation setup? I know extracting analog simulation waveform in “Spectre” type and importing it through vsource (as PWL file) is possible. I want to know if the same thing is possible for digital simulation result, for example a 6bit output of a simulation result?

    Mostafa,

This is probably related to your other post. You can save VCD files (or EVCD) and then use these as input to Spectre (or analog nodes in AMS) via Setup->Simulation Files and then the vector inputs tab. This can't however be used for digital inputs in AMS - for that, there's not really a solution other than using xmgentb to generate a test bench from a VCD file).

Thank you so much for your answer.

The method I used to import the digital input from an FSDB file into my AMS simulation environment involved the following steps: First, I opened the FSDB file in ViVA and expanded the digital data—for example, a 4-bit data into 4 separate digital signals. Then, using the 'Measurement' option in ViVA, I converted these digital signals into analog, one by one. Then, I exported them individually in 'Spectre' format. As a result, in the AMS environment, I need to place 4 'vsource' elements for a 4-bit data set.

I am not sure if this method is reasonable, but I don't see options to export the digital data in VCD or EVCD format when using ViVA (see the attached screenshot).
