Happy holidays and new year. I wonder if cadence has an option similar to ADS to simultaneously simulate source-pull and load-pull for simultaneous conjugate matching. Only simulating load-pull returns meaningful contours for the optimum load conditions. However, doing the same thing on the source side returns few points and does not really seem to optimize the input power. For these simulations, we use the adapter from the rfExamples library. Is there a different setup to simulate the source pull conditions? And also are there any chances to perform both source-pull and load-pull in one run of sims in one testbench?
Many thanks in advance,
I don't know the answer to your question off the top of my head. As it's holiday season, I suggest you contact customer support. I believe that simulating source pull shouldn't be any different from load pull, but I'm not 100% sure. By the way, with harmonic balance you shouldn't need to use the portAdapter but can directly use the "load pull" option on the hb analysis form and point to the port (there's a native analysis under hb for doing load pull). This is covered in the tutorials in <SPECTREinstDir>/tools/spectre/examples/SpectreRFWorkshop/rfworkshop.tar.gz (apologies if the path is not quite correct - I'm doing this from memory).
