Can we get subclasses in PRESTO??? PLEASE

If I draw a line on the silkscreen layer... it puts it on the board silk subclass.  I can't turn this subclass on and off in Presto.  I can only turn on and off the component silk subclass.

Is this for real?  Do I need to go into the legacy tool to turn on my subclasses and then go back to Presto?

Anyone know how to turn on subclasses that don't seem to be there in Presto?  Why has presto been out for like 2-3 years and we still don't have basic color stuff????

Thanks

    Hi DG202504226528

It is true that drawing a line in a silkscreen class defaults to the board geometry / silkscreen subclass. However, you CAN control its visibility here:

    See this:

All the class/subclasses can be controlled either in this section or in the following one:

It would if I  had the same color things as shown in your images.  I don't have "silk" or "paste" or "soldermask" or any of that cool subclass stuff.  I only have those for the "components" class.

What license are you running?  Allegro?  Cause my Orcad Prof license doesn't seem to show those.  Unless that's another thing that should be on by default and isn't.

Anyone know how to turn on these layers in my color thing?

Anyone have like a cheat sheet with settings, etc to set up in Presto to turn like everything on?  Am I missing something and Presto actually has more capabilities than I thought?

    Thanks.

I checked in both OrCAD X Presto Standard and Proffesional licenses and the results are the same. And the board that I'm showing is the Cadence_Demo.brd board. You can find it in %CDSROOT%\share\pcb\examples\board_design

Can you share a screenshot of what you see?

Well.... I dug around with ChatGTP and it seems that with Preto, you need to manually add in those layers in the stackup for them to show up in the color do dab on the left.  Even though those layers are there in the design and are used.  Man Presto is weird.

Again, anyone have a cheat sheet for all the weirdo quirks Presto has and how to make it work like the Legacy tool?

Thanks for the help JuanCR!  I looked at the demo board and sure enough, the stackup had the paste, silk and mask in it.  I never would have thought that you needed these added in the stackup to get the color stuff to work properly.

I'll be making sure my stackups have all these extra layers in them going forward.

    thanks again.

That's strange because when I open a new board in Presto, I can still see all these subclasses and controls. I haven't tried adding information to them (which might be what's behind the legacy tool wall) but definitely you can view and get all the visibility controls I showed you above.

I made a new board a few times just now and every time, the stackup is just top and bottom and there's nothing else.  The color thing on the left also doesn't show anything except top and bottom.

I just watched the orcad master class and he makes a new board file and it's the same, but then when he goes to his main page with the colors, he's got the silk, mask, paste even though it's not set up in his stackups.

I found that many of those videos aren't exactly correct.  He's always using the full Allegro license to show them and a lot of times he's wrong in some parts or some things are just missing in my tool.  I'm using Orcad X Professional.  Very frustrating seeing him do stuff... thinking I can do it too just to find out hours later after digging deep that it's an Allegro feature.
