Hello,

I had to move from Allegro free viewer 15.7 to 16.6. uninstalled 15.7 and then installed as administrator ( for all users) the 16.6. installation successfully completed.

However on startup i got an error stating it is missing cdnZlib.dll, hence it doesn't starts.

Any help  here ?

Note: Computer is windows 7.

thanks,

br,

fabrice

Are you referring to the Allegro Physical Free Viewer installation or using the allegro_free_viewer executable from the product installation, tools\pcb\bin? I have tried "wrecking" the Allegro Free Physical Viewer installation but, as far as I can tell, it doesn't use a DLL by this name. It's possible that the allegro_free_viewer executable might use this DLL, since it is part of the regular product installation, in which case, you might want to check that your CDSROOT environment variable is correctly set to the location of your 16.6 product installation, usually C:\Cadence\SPB_16.6

    Hello,

    thanks for replying.

indeed, i am refering to the Allegro Physical Free Viewer standalone installation file from the download location.

I've checked if i had a CDSROOT env variable set but, there is none.

    Hope this helps,

    br,

Check the install directory in Program Files, (x86) on a 64 bit install, for the required DLL, look in tools\pcb\bin. If the file is in that directory, try double-clicking on the allegro_free_viewer.exe there and then see what you get. IF the file is not there you probably need to get the latest Free Viewer Download, November 2014, again and try a remove and re-install. IF the program does run up when started by double-clicking on the exe, check the settings for the shortcut that you are starting the viewer from, my "start in" looks to be set to "My Documents".

Did you find a solution to this? Another colleague and I are having the same problem and there is minimal data on this. I've tried installing with Admin rights on win7 as well with no success. -Brandon
