Capture reference designators swap

Hi Lock.

First thing, save your existing placed board under a different name so you have a backup.

In capture use that new board name for both the input & output board.

Generate netlist with the options "Place Changed components if same"  & do not open board file.

Load your board in Orcad/Allegro.

See if that works, believe it should.

Another way to do it is from in Orcad/Allegro. Use import logic ! to pull in your new netlist.

This doesn't resolve the problem. All of the parts are placed. 

Well, I have a placed board and changed all the reference dez in capture and upon netlisting it did indeed update the board to the new references as described above. If I changed a footprint specific to one of the symbols that did not exist on the board "New Footprint", again netlisting worked fine and the board updated. The changed footprint is was under place component and the prior footprint was removed from the board.

Doing a import logic from within the pcb editor also updated the placed board too.

Everything works from here, not too sure what your trouble is there. What are you finding that's not working ?

I'm finding that it's ripping most of the parts off the board.  Allegro places by reference designator as far as I know. Not sure how this works for you. When you renumber in Capture are using "Tools, Annotate"? The individual that renumbered did this, but set everything to "?" first and then renumbered. 

Can anyone else confirm that this works for them? I've tried it several times. 

Another thing to add. We aren't using a shared directory. I took a copy from their working directory.
