Capture schematic fastest way to FIND PART

Hello,

I currently use Edit-> browse parts to find parts. I leave that tab open.

Is there another faster way to engage a find function and just type in the part reference?

I have my schematic open. I click Edit , Find  and nothing happens. When I do Ctrl F, nothing happens either. I tried several other commands in the Edit menu and they seem to work.

I have orcad capture CIS version 17.2-2016

I have a  Ctrl F hotkey in my c:\spb_data\pcbenv\env for usage in Allegro. Should that override the Capture Ctrl F?

I commented out the Ctrl F in the env file. The Find still does not work in the Capture. Now, the Ctrl F I added for Allegro does not do anything anymore.

So your env file is ONLY for PCB editor, this has nothing to do with OrCAD Capture, The Find command is different in 17.2 v 17.4.. By default select the design name in the project window and this will become active

You can type your refdes in this window and hit return. The Binoculars and arrow can help with what you are searching for. If you don;t like this go to Options - Preferences - Miscellaneous tab and uncheck Find Search Toolbar then use Edit - Find and you'll see a window like this
