Orcad X Capture: create a new symbol using TCL script

Andrey
Andrey 11 months ago

I am a new user of ORCAD. I am trying to understand how I can create a new symbol using TCL script.

I created a new design but it is still empty. The first thing I need to do is add the ASIC chip symbol(200 pins).

I have netlist in .csv format.

I can create the symbol manually but I would like to do it using TCL script.

I will be very grateful for any help.

Thanks!

If you have csv file which contains information  Pin Number, Name, Type etc..

Then you can read the csv and create an xml file to import in OrCAD capture to create symbol.

You can create an xml file by trying following below step:

    1. Open a library

    2. Right click on library and select "New Part Creation From Spreadsheet".

    3. One Gui(see below screenshot) will open provide the required details and click "Save".

Now check the location of xml file run in the Orcad capture command line .

Open the xml file and see the information similar file need to create using tcl script .

    Hope it helps.
