Hi,

I would like to Know the Procedure How to do Function Swap (Gate Swap)?in Allegro PCB Editor?

What are settings need to be done at the Schematic level?

Thanx in advance.

 Regards,

Sekhar

There is still another level of part design that must be done.

For function swaps, you need to have identical (homogeneous) parts in the symbol.  For example, an AND gate.  Let's say you make your design in OrCAD such that you have "A", "B", "C", "D" sections.  These automatically get promoted to FUNCTION swaps in Allegro.

Now within each AND gate, say you want the two inputs to be swappable, you need to give them a pin swap ID such as "1" for gate "A", "2" for gate "B", etc...  By putting a "0" on the output you signify a no-swap property.

Hi Redwire, I see this is a 10 year old topic, but can I ask you to confirm: Is it correct that in OrCad Capture you cannot use a single 16 pin symbol (resistor network that represents 8 resistors) and still be able to define swappable pin pairs within the single symbol? thanks.

I have never seen a way to do that.  But you can easily group your 8 resistor sections in a graphic blob.  That's how I do mine.  Then I get pin swap, function swap, and device swap and the schematic stays clean and pretty.

Forgive my disappointment. This is contrary to other tools I've used, and seems like a deficiency, but I'll proceed with the work-around you suggested. Thanks very much for your help!!
