Component Instance Property - Symbol Instance Property

Is there any skill avaliable to transfer a component instance property to a symbol instance property. I have a property in Capture that I would like to display as a datatip in Allegro. Currently the Capture property is a component instance type. The Datatip function uses symbol instance properties. Short of applying these properties manually using Edit Property it would be nice is there was any way to do this with skill after the netlist import.

    To transfer property from component to its symbol, please try below steps in your Skill program:
    Step1. To create your local property: axlDBCreatePropDictEntry.
    Step2. To get component's Datatip property:  (I suppose that your property name is "datatip")
               new_prop = assoc("datatip" comp_dbid->prop)
    Step3: Add datatip property to component's symbol:
               axlDBAddProp(comp_dbid->symbol, new_porop)

    Hi leonlee, I've a similar problem with the key-property "VALUE" (assingned into ADEHDL) when I'm working with APD. I've not found any skill routine which can show this string (contained into "VALUE") for a selected component. Can you try to write a program which can do this for me? Many thanks in advance for your goodwill.

    Best Regards

    Hi GraF,

    You could get the property from compdef. If you have get the component dbid ( i.e. compdbid), you can get its compdef( compdbid->compdef), then you can get the "VALUE" property:

    compdbid->compdef->prop->VALUE

    Is it helpful to you? Have a good day.

    Hi leonlee, thank you for the quick reply.

    Due to my little knowledge of skill language, I've done an elementary addition in the row containing "compdef->prop->VALUE" of my program without success.

    I've copied below the program that I'm trying to use (it's based on a routine of Sourcelink), hoping that you can make (if you can) the necessary modifications to get it working.

     axlCmdRegister("d_val" 'VALUE)

    procedure(VALUE()
     let((VALUE_popup comp needed_data)

      VALUE_popup = axlUIPopupDefine(nil list(list("Done" 'axlFinishEnterFun)))
      axlUIPopupSet(VALUE_popup)

      axlMsgPut("Click on a component to open the component's needed_data. Choose Done from the RMB menu to exit.")
      axlClearSelSet()
      axlSetFindFilter(?enabled list("noall" "components") ?onButtons list("noall" "components"))

      while(axlSelect()
       comp = car(axlGetSelSet())
       needed_data = get(compdbid->comp->compdef->prop 'VALUE)

       if((!needed_data) then
        axlMsgPut("ERROR: %s has no VALUE!\n" comp->name)
       else
        axlMsgPut("Find VALUE for %s: %s.\n" comp->name needed_data)
       ); end if
       axlClearSelSet()
      ); end while
     ); end let
    ); end procedure

    Thanks in advance again for your goodwill. :)

    Hi GraF,

    You need just modify one line to remove the code: "compdbid->"

    Change:       needed_data = get(compdbid->comp->compdef->prop 'VALUE)

    To:               needed_data = get(comp->compdef->prop 'VALUE)

    I tested your program, it works well. Good lucky.
