how to create user padstack layers

Ejlersen
Ejlersen over 9 years ago

Hi

I've looked for a way to create a layer like "PIN/mymask_top" but not been able to do so

axlLayerCreateNonConductor does not allow me to create subclasses on PIN.

Anyone with an idea how this can be accomplished?

Best regards

Ole

    Hi Ole,

The only way I know of is to add the pask layer to a padstack!

This can be done with a script. Then just update the board with the updated padstack and you woul have the new subclass in your design.

    Script example.

    setwindow pcb
    trapsize 89
    setwindow form.padedit
FORM padedit grid rpopup soldermask_top Insert
    FORM padedit grid row unnamed_mask1
FORM padedit grid change unnamed_mask1,1 May_MASK1
    FORM padedit grid row may_mask1
    FORM padedit geometry Rectangle
    FORM padedit width 1
    FORM padedit height 0.650
    pse_save

    Hi Johan

    Thank you for the answer.

Its doable in SKILL, I just logged a service request for this since something is not working as expected.

    Hi Ole,

17.0 promises many advancements in pin/padstack management. You might want to review what is coming.

We add manufacturing/pastemask_top layers to symbols such as QFNs to get around the split-past problems problems. As such, adding a pin subclass isn't necessary.

    Hi Dave

I've used the method of manufacturing/pastemak_top as well, it can be added both to symbols and pins.

I know functionality exists for 17 as well, but according to the documentation for 16.6 this should also be possible.

The example file dbcreate\pad.il shows the methodology - but currently I'm getting an illegal pad message that don't allow me to create user mask layers. I've seeded the database in Allegro with the user mask layers that I need since I can't create PIN class objects using SKILL commands.

    Best regards

    Ole
