Import footprint PCB

How can I import a footprint into OrCAD PCB Designer Professional?.
I download the file from any provider and run the .bat file
with the following problem appearing: Cannot open script file; No match found for 'footprint.scr' in the search path.

Your .bat file is calling for a .scr (script) file. You need to have the script file also.

I download the footprints from https://componentsearchengine.com/. Once downloaded I go to the Orcad_Allegro16 folder, where I have a .bat file, an edf file for the schematic and three .scr files.  I open the .bat file and I get an error. Try downloading a component from that page and see if you can enter the footprint. I am using version 17.4

Did you think to read the instructions? You need to download their Loader 1st.

I already have that program installed, but it does not automatically add the symbol and footprint of your component, or perhaps it is not doing something right.
Could you try adding a component from the page that I told you with that program? It would be a great help if I could add the components of that page.

Hi if you can attach the zip file I can take a look. In the mean time from your post this sounds similar to how other component builders for allegro work. Give the following a try.

In order for Allegro to know how to execute a .scr script file outside of the allegro environment Allegro has to know where the script files are.

1 Create a folder on your drive, I use C:\my-parts and put the unzipped files in it.

2 Go into allegro and open User Preferences editor. In the search box put in   scripath   and hit the search button

3 You will see a button for the scripath, click on it and add your path to those file in.. Example C:\my-parts

4 Click ok to get out of that window, close out the editor and exit allegro.

5 In your folder click on the bat file. Usually the bat file will launch Allegro and then execute that .SCR file which is used to build your part and padstacks.

If all goes good in the folder C:\my-parts you should see a directory with the newly created part name. Your Symbol for Allegro will be in it.

    Maybe that will help ?

    Thanks.

Quite strange - so I 'registered' to the site; set my SW tool preferences in my Profile; installed the downloader; and downloaded my first part (TLV320AIC3100IRHBR, TI part). When I hit the DOWNLOAD tab it saved a .zip file to my computer. When I look in the zip file there are multiple folders, and I looked in the Allegro folder. The .psm and .pad files were there for loading the footprint. There's no conversion necessary. Bam! Done!  The Orcad folder had an .XML file in it, but you're interested in the footprints, so I don't care about it. But the site has the parts, and you can download to your delight - assuming the part is in their library. Good day.
