Editting a DFF .csv file issue

Casey O

I'm trying to edit a Design True DFM  .csv file and by doing so break the .csv into multiple files for review and adoption in my team at Intel. What I want to do (and did) was to "shorten" the default DFF csv file into smaller segments. After doing so paying careful attention to the headers and beginning an end of the different sections of the csv file I could load it into a allegro .brd file but no new drc's for DFM showed up. I looked at the log file no apparent issue. I used excel to edit the .csv and save it as a .csv file before reading it into a board file. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a Allegro 17.2 database 17.2-2016 S062 [11/25/2019] Windows SPB 64-bit Edition

Are the DRC modes turned on? Setup - Constraints - Modes - DFF/DFA/DFT and turn on the relevant DRC checks

    Casey,

You might want to check with the current owner of the Intel internal DFx tools regarding this 17.2 functionality,

I emailed him examples of these files when 17.2 originally came out requesting they incorporate their rules with these files to allow real-time checking instead of the downstream DFx checking

Dave nice to hear from you. Yes this request came from the DFx team (and the tools team) and I was picked to get this working. But what I got was a 800+ lines long csv file populated with values and currently a production HDMT board now has 80K drc's. A little tough to debug. Also it sucks that the csv file cannot be broken into smaller chunks (because I tried this) and doesn't work. Lame Part of my groups problem is DFx is out of step with what we are doing on our designs so I am using this as a way to "bring DFx committee up to speed" and modify our segments ruleset. The plan is to utilize this tool and eliminate Valor.

Casey OK no worries. I did find this on COS which may / may not help support.cadence.com/.../ArticleAttachmentPortal. Might be worth contacting your Cadence AE directly and they should be able to help.
