Text line is outside of the extents

Can anybody explain what does it means this msg error?

When I update the PCB this happens:

" Netrev error detected. ERROR(SPMHDB-195): Error processing 'U8': Text line is outside of the extents.."

Is it about footprint drawing (text)? or is it about text inside some file, other text issues, etc?

Thanks in advance.

For me this happens when the part attribute on a part is changed to something too long to fit in the default extents (not the board outline, the size of the design area).

menu button.   >Quick Utilities >Design Paramters > [Design Tab]  [Extents]

The default extents in MM tend to be rather small.

I have translated an old version project and update it to 16.6. I have not created the footprints. I'm so new with OrCad yet. But I could feel the differences managing OrCad versus other PCB CADs, as Eagle or Altium.

Thank you so much for your answer, I have followed the steeps you share here, I have this right now:

I don't know what ot the 3 texts blocks is the one that is going out of the extents.

What is supposed that I must do with the extents parameter? Can I make it bigger? Must I edit some text value nam and do it smaller?

I don't know how to edit the text and change names, or how to know in what layer is everyone, there is no right click menu on the footprint to display this information. It seems to be a little more complex.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

    A lot of thanks CadAce!

But the board file is not created yet, due to the extent error that I wrote before. I'm updating board from create netilist in cadence with the create or update PCB editor board option. Then input file option I put the original file and output I put the name of a new board in order to create a new version file and let the old version there.

1.- Must I change the original board file extent?

2.- I'm unable to see what is the text block that is out of extents, any suggestion for knowing what is it and how to solve that, without changing extent value?

3.- How can I do a "hello window"? what do you mean with this?

Yes open the original board file and increase the design extents (Setup - Design Parameters - Design tab) better to increase the lower portion so set a left x and lower y to say -100 -100 (mm) and see if that helps.

ouch, I can't change the extent y parameter. It' said "can't reduce upper y extent":

After click "ok" it does not happen any change. It stills -77 value.

So try increasing the Height then decrease the lower Y....You may want to set the Width and Height to a larger value (say 1000) just for now until you can import the design. You can always reduce it later.
