How to add soldermask to a PCB symbol?

olebon

I have a number of downloaded parts which have correct top and bottom etch but no soldermask at all. First, I tried to use Z-copy to copy a pin shape (for a round through-hole) from etch to Package Geometry -> SoldermaskTop, however, it is impossible to copy or even select a shape, so I failed. Then I tried to edit the DRA file,  so I opened it in PCB editor and found that it is also impossible not even select any object, but even  see the right-click menu to select edit mode. If anybody knows the secret, please help! Thanks.

Remember that adding a soldermask geometry to a symbol *removes* soldermask as it is a negative operation.

For a padstack the same thing applies.  The soldermask layer removes from around the pin.

You should not see any solderrmask on any parts in general. What are you exactly trying to do?
