Identifying Overlapping Vias in PCB Editor

Gipper

I've had a couple projects now where the contract manufacturer has come back to me saying there are overlapping vias in the drill file. I must be double-clicking a little too fast when adding vias?

Is there any way these overlapping vias can be detected in OrCAD PCB Editor? I am using OrCAD PCB Designer Professional 17.4-2019 S016.

If the vias are actually right on top of each other and are through vias the DRC should be popping up on this.  Plus if you run DBDOCTOR it will graciously remove overlaps.

However, if two different via types overlap or very close it gets trickier.  There are DRC checks that have to be enabled for this.  Your license level won't let you deal with microvia but there is a BBVIA space rule which any via can be considered.  That rule is in the physical section under "BB Stagger"

Next is a rule for same net DRC.  There is a via to via rule there but you need to enable it in CM first...

Hope those hints are a good starting point..
