Hey all, I'm currently facing an error when trying to remove a Mechanical component in one of the boards I'm working on; indeed when I use the "Delete" command I get this error:

(SPMHDB-243): Cannot modify element; the object or a parent has the FIXED property. [help]

So I used the "Unfix" command making sure that all the Object Filter were flagged on and obviously the component and all the parts I can see are unfixed.

I even tried to see with F4 or the "Property" command but the component is unfixed.

What can I do?

Thanks to all!

Any object type can be fixed so you may find that pin or symbol or component could have the fixed property. Try invoking the Unfix command then right click - Unfix All which does exactly that. You should then be able to delete the parts.

I didn't know this command, pretty useful! But it doesn't solve the problem, I always get the same message on the command window and I can't modify move or delete the object:

(SPMHDB-243): Cannot modify element; the object or a parent has the FIXED property. [help]

Ok Try a Tools - database Check (or Check - Database Check in OrCAD), check all the options and run the check then try again.

Ok make sure you are running the latest version of software 17.4-2019 S022 or 17.2-2016 S078 (maybe the version you are running had an issue). if that doesn't help you may need to send the board to Cadence/Channel Partner for them to investigate or zip it up and someone can take a look on the forum (if you are OK with that being public).

Edit - I've had another thought, try opening the mechanical symbol and then unfix and right click unfix all (in the mechanical symbol). Then save, go back to the board and use Place - Update Symbols and refresh the symbol from the library. That may resolve the issue.

Nope, it doesn't work. I've attached the skinned version of the board; on the file there only are the two elements that give me the problem.

    Enjoy!

Cracked it. Look at this Cannot move a component due to its FIXED property (cadence.com)
