merging two padstacks into one

masamasa
masamasa 10 months ago

hello

a L1-L2 padstack and a L2-L3 padstack are located at the same location as a stacked via.

is there a way to merge a L1-L2 padstack and a L2-L3 padstack into one single L1-L3 padstack?

regards

masa

Hi Masa, it seems nobody else has a solution for you currently. I don't believe there is a way to merge padstacks for symbol pins.

If you wish to merge via padstacks then you may use the via structure facility using the Route menu > Structures > Create via Structure. This creates an xml file in your design directory ( as per padpath). You can reuse these structures while connecting traces or you can replace existing through vias with the stacked blind or buried via structure. A description of this is presented in the Create structure window:

thank u for ur response, john.

i do not think this work as once a standard via structure is created, i would need to find where the stacked via locations are.

i hope to find a way to find the stacked via locations as a stacked via report does not help.

this is a new feature that i was not aware of and can use in a different situation, though.

    regards

The attached zip file contains a skill file that implements the custom command "merge_stackedvias"

The rules file "MergeStackedVias.txt" is opened for the user to enter their specific mapping for top via, bottom via & replacement via

once the file is closed, it will prompt the user to select an rectangular area containing the vias to be replaced

A summary of the replacements is output, below is an example:

    4 Vias selected, 2 StackedVias found, 2 Replaced, 0 ErrorsMergeStackedVias.zip
