Removing Soldermask from Backdrill Vias

I'm trying to remove the Soldermask_Bottom from my back drilled vias that are on my design. Right now, I'm attempting to do:
Select via > modify design padstack > single instance. Once in the padstack editor, I'm changing the backdrill_soldermask to "None":

After saving I get some warnings and upon exiting, nothing is changed. The last warning is:
"Default backdrill data from design will not be saved in pad file"

Is there a different way to tent these vias on the back side?

Open, modify, and save the pad stack under a new name.

Replace affected pad stacks (single instance, one at a time) with the new pad stack.

If this is too time consuming, ask someone here to create a script to do it automatically.
