Field Solver Selection in Allegro (BEM2D vs EMS2D)

Hi everyone,

From the Cadence documentation, it appears that the EMS2D field solver is recommended for designs operating above 2.5 GHz for various calculation in tool.

In my case, the design frequency is greater than 2.5 GHz, but I still observe that Allegro is using the BEM2D field solver.

I wanted to understand that from where in the tool can we select or switch between BEM2D and EMS2D?

I Would appreciate any guidance or insights on this.

Thanks,

    Hi excellon1,

Thank you for the clarification and for sharing the reference document.

You are absolutely right  the field solver selection is closely related to the available license options and the Signal Analysis/SigWave capabilities within Allegro. Following the guidance shared earlier by John T, I was able to successfully switch between the BEM2D and EMS2D solvers and explore them based on my design requirements.

I also found the latest Allegro SI documentation from the Cadence website extremely helpful in understanding the solver behavior and configuration options in more detail. It is great to see the level of flexibility Allegro provides for high-speed design analysis.

    Hi John T ,

Thankyou so much for your kind support. Really appreciate your time and support in pointing me in the right direction.

    Thanks again!
