Why to use Allegro System Capture – Version Control

During the design phase, it is required to maintain multiple versions of the design.

System Capture provides a version control functionality. Designers can use this feature to maintain versions of the design as well as see the design changes for each version.

Versions of the design are created when you select Save All or Commit.

Save All

Saved versions are created when you select File > Save All. These versions are visible only to the user who creates them.

The saved versions are represented by the branches to the right or left of the vertical line in the center of the version control tree as shown below:

The name of the user who created this version is also shown.

Commit

Commit versions are created when you select File > Commit. You can choose to create major or minor versions of the design based on your selection in the Commit form.

You can revert to older versions of the design by selecting the required version in the version history in System Capture.

When the design is saved in the Pulse environment, the commit versions can be seen by all members of the design team the design is shared with.

To identify versions of the design in the version history, you can add notes and tags while committing the design. Hover over the versions to get the details.
