Allegro Extract SYM_NAME

Hi,

I am  trying to extract from Allegro the component pictures. I am extracting the SYM_NAME, but I wonder if this name is unique across all symbols. In other words, if 2 components are refering to the same symbol name, does it mean they have the same picture? or each component has his own symbol?

thanks a lot.

No, SYM_X and SYM_Y are where the symbol datums are placed in the design so, hopefully, SYM_X and SYM_Y are not going to be same for any two components (on the same side), otherwise they would be stacked!

Again, try a Tools>Quick Reports>Component Report in PCB Editor, this will show the RefDes, Symbol Name and Location, and reflect the same data that you are extracting.
