Shape not being "trimmed" by route or package keepin

I have created shapes on a plane layer (for split planes).  I did it by:

"Add >  Retangle" and then selected the net they are to be on.  I then did:

"Shape > Merge Shapes"  to create single shape and then did:

"Shape > Change Shape Type" to make it conform to the via's and through hole pins.

All these work except for the shape is not being trimmed by my route keepin at the edge of the board.  What am I missing?

    Hi,

I'm not sure what your exactly trying to do. If your trying to create split planes I would just draw the dynamic shape. I would use the Shape>polygon set the shape to the proper layer and net in the options tab and draw it in. The dynamic shape will void around keepin's keepouts and pins and vias. If you need to add a shape with in a shape just add a void and draw a new shape in the void.

If you have  alot of splits I would use the anti etch layer and draw in the gaps as anti etch lines and then use Edit>Split Plane .

There is a section in the help under Best practices>Working with shapes.

I think you are making this harder than it needs to be.
