Allegro pin Assignment

Hi - Very new pcb editor user here

Please can you help.

I am trying to add extra pins to a footprint which currently has 24 pins and want to increase to 26 pins.

I would like to rename pin numbers on this footprint?

I believe I use options tab but not sure how to go further?

Regards,

Nigel

Renaming pin numbers is as simple as editing the number (edit->text) (just make sure the pin number is visible)
Adding a pin is Layout->Pin and then walk through the options tab.  If it's an electrical connection in the schematic then choose connect. If it's a non-electrical pin then choose mechanical.

You can also just copy an existing pin and rename its pin number afterwards.  Very flexible.

Thanks for your response. To be honest I was looking for properties table etc. - over complicating!

     Thanks.

    Hello!

The new pin shows up, but its text (pin number) is really big and shows up far away from the symbol. Why I can't just drag it to the right place and right click to select edit -> font I don't know!?!?

    Hi Jacob.

Firstly you need to go and setup the Photoplot width for the text sizes in Setup>Design Parameters, Text tab, “Setup Text Sizes”. You will see many different Text BLk which you can edit (so just change on and try different combinations),

Then return to main screen and change text size as follows:

Edit>Change   /  In Find Tab select Text  / In options Tab select class= Ref Des and subclass=Silkscreen Top.

Then just select text Blk required and just click onref des you want to change.

(once happy just right click done).

     Nigel.

Hello Nigel and many thanks for your answer! I could never have guessed that was the way to do this.

Still, I can't figure out how to move the text closer to the pin (pad). Do you know how to do this as well?

    Br, Jacob
