Deleting a pin from a package symbol

Using PCB editor 16.0. New to OrCAD PCB. Having two problems for now.

First one:

Need to create a new footprint. It would be much faster if I was able to edit an existing dra file (to delete two pins and the package boundary and then to add two pins and a new package boundary). I was able to delete the existing package boundary, but I couldn't figure out how to delete the two pins.

I am using the following procedure to delete a pin:

  1. Select the pin.

  2. Edit – Delete

The message I am getting is:

Selected item not valid for current operation, ignored: Mechanical Pin "Hole100"

No valid items selected for the current operation, exiting.

The second problem is similar to the first one. I am trying the modify a brd file, containing the board outline, several connectors and several package keepout areas. Need to replace one of the connectors with another one, but I cannot figure out how to delete the existing footprint. Using the above procedure (selecting the package symbol first and then Edit – Delete, I am getting the message:

Selected item not valid for current operation, ignored: Symbol "J*"

No valid items selected for the current operation, exiting.

Obviously the correct procedure is different than the one I am using, but I cannot figure out it and need help.

     Thanks Tanveer! It works!

When I first read your answer, I thought I was doing exactly what you are suggesting. Then I realized your suggestion was first to select the action (delete) and then – the object to delete (the pin). I was trying the reversed sequence - first selecting the object (the pin), then - the action (delete) and it wasn't working.
