    Hello,

Attached to this thread is the extract view file from the installation directory of CADCAM 4.7 (November 2008).  CADCAM was originally developed by a company called Router Solutions, Inc. which was purchased by Mentor Graphics some time back.  Prior to the purchase you would simply go to their web site and download the extract view but now you have to install CADCAM to get access to the file, at least from what I can see.

Here is the command line option to perform the extract either from a DOS Prompt or from a UNIX Command Shell:

    extracta <board_name>.brd valext.txt <board_name>.b <board_name>.p <board_name>.s <board_name>.r <board_name>.x

    or

    extracta <board_name>.brd valext.txt   brd.txt   pad.txt   sym.txt   rte.txt  shp.txt

    Notes:
    1. On the UNIX side "extract" can be used in place of "extracta" above but "extracta" command must be used on Windows.
    2. Either command line method above will work but the order of the output files is very important because it maps to the individual extract views inside of valext.txt file.  I personally like using the <board_name>.b <board_name>.p <board_name>.s <board_name>.r <board_name>.x so I have some association to the Allegro database the files were generated from.
    3. In September 2007, changes were made to "valext.txt" to output an additional file in support of complex apertures that are driven by shape pads. The Shape extract output file is not required for designs that do not contain complex Apertures.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike Catrambone

    This might help:

There's a skill file "vsmt.il" that may be what you are after.

    Carl,

Sorry for the delay in my response, I was traveling and away from my email.

It may be that "extract" is crashing before it completes, for some reason, so you are getting a partial file.  I would suggest breaking up the extract view file "valext.txt" into 5 separate extract files, run separate extracts then review the extract.log file for any errors or abnormal exits.  You can try the SKILL version that Dave suggested but it will probably give you the same results.

Another suggestion is to open up the route file "rte.txt" to see if you see more than pins 1 and 2 for U601.  If you do see more than Pins 1 and 2 than compare the other Pin lines to see if something jumps out or looks to be out of place.  I can take a quick look at the file and maybe I could figure something out. I will only need a partial file for review but it will need to be attached to the post and not in the body.  It could be a component related issue or a net related issue but I would need to look at the file to figure it out.

One final question:  Does this problem exist on only U601 or is there other components that exhibit the same problem?

    Mike
