delete by box in 16.2?

I've just started using 16.2, and was wondering if you can put a box around traces and have it delete just the part inside the box.

If not, I can't believe Cadence still has not added this. Is the only option still to use the skill routine "cline_cut"?

Thanks,

Gary

     Hi pilot,

Here's what I do, that should work for you. Enter Delete mode, and then set the Find filter to Clines, Cline segs, or whatever you want. Then you can draw a box around just the objects you want to delete and those elements will highlight. Click again and the highlighted elements will be deleted.

I believe that accomplishes what you want. If it doesn't, let us know and we'll try to figure out a solution for you.

FYI, I think this behavior has been the same since I started using Allegro, which is only since 15.5.1.

    Evan,

No, that's not exactly what I want to do. I want to "chop out" a section of a horizontal trace ("cline seg").

Imagine a large bus running horizontally:
    _________________________________
    _________________________________
    _________________________________
    _________________________________

I want to end up with a piece deleted in the middle of each:
    _____________    __________________
    _____________    __________________
    _____________    __________________
    _____________    __________________

Way back, a CAD system called Cadnetix could do this easily. Just get in delete, draw a box, and the sections of each trace within the box would be deleted.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Regards,
    Gary

     Hi Gary,

Yes, I believe clinecut.il is the only way to accomplish that.

    Hi Evan,

That's what I thought. Maybe someday Cadence will include that feature.

You can do this inside PCB Editor but on an individual cline. Invoke the Delete command (Edit - Delete) then RMB the cline you want to cut and you will see a command "cut". Select your first pick then second pick the RMB Done. Track is removed.
