    Hi,

Error you are recieving is very strange.

which process you are following for creating symbol. Try package symbol wizard for making symbols it is the easiest way for all conventional symbols.

    Regards

    Hi

The errors says "symbol missing refdes". Please check if you have added the REFDES to the symbol(i.e to ASSEMBLY_TOP & SILKSCREEN_TOP).
PACKAGE symbol should always have refdes added.
Use menu Layout-->Labels-->refdes and add "*" at origin. Add refdes to both ASSEMBLY_TOP & SILKSCREEN_TOP.
    Now try to save.

i did it just like you told me but i don't understand what you mean with "add "*" at origin"  and " Add refdes to both ASSEMBLY_TOP & SILKSCREEN_TOP" because as you can see in the image (in the link) theres no texbox to write anything, when you click layout->labels->refdes.

thanks for your help but i can't still save the package.

After selecting Layout >Label >Refdes you need to select, with the left mouse button, a location for the text in the editing canvas. In your picture there is the statement in the Allegro command window to "pick text location". Did you select a location for the text and then type the text you want for the refdes at the command window followed by "Enter"?

Edit >> Once you select a location for the text the Options tab will be populated with options such as which class/subclass youwant to attach the text to, mirror, rotation, justification, and textblock you want to use.

thanks, now i was able to save it. But i still have a problem, excuse me because i'm asking very basic questions but i'm newbie with pcb editor. I'm orcad layout user and now i'm moving to pcb editor. Once i do my first design i think it will be more easy. but the problem now is: i still can't see my package symbol in the list (place->manually->placement list->package symbols):

should i have to change anything in the design paths??

    regards ;)
