Importing new schematic changes removed componets and moved RF traces.

I made several changes to a schematic then imported it with the following  imported > logic > place changed componet "yes" if symbol.  I ended up with many componets missing and traces moved.  I then tried export > placement import logic then import placement.  It had no effect.  Can someone tell me the right way to import changes without having items moved?  I am using 16.2.

Components and nets change if you change them in the schematic.  It sounds like you changed connectivity somewhere.  Renamed the board and not the schematic.  Check your board netlist and your schematic netlist.

Are you using the integrated OrCAD+Allegro?  If so, you don't need to do "import->logic" just package against the old board and the eco.txt report will tell you if you changed anything.

Many thanks Redwire.   Can you tell me if renaming footprints could cause part to move to "unplaced"?

Using your method yes.  Using the preferred Packager (aka Netlister) method, no.  Try netlisting from OrCAD to the board and in the user interface you can control whether or not the footprint changes rip up the board and whether or not traces get ripped up.  Much healthier interface than using logic->import...
