Best Way to Explain Slots to Board

 All,

 I have a board shop (off-shore) that keeps kicking back my files because they have slots. As we know, we can generate the drill legend and the slots appear but the slots will not show up on the drill data (by design). What is the best way to explain this to a vendor? I'm really quite surprised they don't recognize this situation.

Cheers,

    We  add a detail view of the slot with dimensions and notes to describe what we want.

    For instance we want a finished plated width of the slot to be 0.043" and the total length to be 0.243".

    Therefore we would dimention the slot as follows;

    .200" between the drilled holes of 0.045" dia.

    Then locate the center of the slot for this feature.

    Note; this board was made here in the U.S.

    have you run the NC_route  in Manufcture - NC - NC_route.  This will created a slotted drill file.  I assume you have a slotted padstack.

    Yes, we have a slotted padstack.

    We have not used the NC_route command as yet.

    if you have a design with slotted holes, you need to supply the PCB vendor with slotted drill file generated from the NC_route.  this will save you a lot of time putting the slotted notes in your drill drawing.
