Creating .PDF using Tcl/Tk Utilities in Capture 16.3

 All,

Here's somthing a little different. I'd like to export a .pdf using the application found in  Accesories--->Cadence Tcl/Tk utilites. This gizmo (when working) produces a searchable pdf which allows one to click on components within the pdf and see properties. I've seen this work in older versions of software. Here's the hitch; I need the postscript driver path for the .pdf editor Bluebeam. I can also use the postscript friver path for Adobe Acrobat Distiller but I prefer to use Bluebeam. Attached is a .png that shows you what I am refering to. Any info will be appreciated.

Cheers,

Ron Scott

I found the HP Universal Print Driver PS to work fine with Windows 7 64 bit, you can get this from the HP site but "any" Postscript printer installed with the "Port" set to "Print to File" will work. I name the printer "Postscript", then the capPdfUtil script can be modified at ::mPSDriver "Acrobat Distiller" to be ::mPSDriver "Postscript" to get the Postscript driver preselected, rather than edit in Postscript every time I run it. Keep a copy of the modified script and a note of the changes in case the code gets overwritten in an update and you need to put your changes back into the updated code.

Thank you for all the suggestions.  I ended up installing the HP universal driver and then editing the tcl file.  Everything works perfectly now.

I have given up trying to figure out why it worked intially.  The only thing I can think of is that I must have had some weird printer setting that got reset when I rebooted my machine

I needed to do this and your help was really useful, which is greatly appreciated.

Is there a vesion of the Tcl script that also allows to click on a net and go to the other locations of that net?

    Thanks!

    Andres

     Hi Andres,

Do you want to locate the net on the same page or in the whole design ?

In 16.3, we have 'Signals' menu present on the RMB of the net, to locate the net in the whole design and can be used to select net on a page also. Are you facing problem using this menu command ?

    Thanks

If you generate the Net Bookmarks (default is ON) during PDF export, that shows the list of the nets with all connected component pins. That might help you a bit. For off-page connectors, the RMB option is present on the off-pages in the generated PDF to traverse through the connected off-pages.
