PSpice installation on Windows 7

I tried to install PSpice 9.1 Student Version on my Windows 7 and I always get the same problem. I doubleclick the setup.exe file but the installation never starts. I tried running it as an admin or using compatibility modes, but it doesn't help. The setup appears in the task manager, but it doesn't run. Does anyone know what to do with that?

Try the following - Select setup.exe and from RMB (right mouse button) use "Run as Administrator"

I think that you may find that the 9.x, and earlier versions, use a 16-bit installer for the 32-bit applications, Windows 7 won't run a 16-bit application - other users have reported getting a message that the application "is not a 32 bit application or a 64 bit compatible application" You need to get the latest software installed to work with Windows 7.

Just checked again - PSpice Student version 9.1 with web update 2 - installs and works fine - on Windows 7 (32bit) if you use "Run as Administrator" on setup.exe . It will give you a warning after install but you can select that application is installed correctly. Your problem may be specific to machine.

You can also pick the 16.3 demo from http://www.cadence.com/products/orcad/pages/downloads.aspx#pspice - there is a specific Capture/PSpice bundle.

I had the exact same problem, windows 7 64-bit as well.

Turned out all I needed to do was shut down Google Chrome, apparently. The minute I closed Chrome, the setup screen popped-up.

Don't know why, but it worked.
